Applied Tensegrity is a way of directly effecting and hydrating the fascial system. ''Fascia is the biological fabric that hold us together. It is our connective tissue matrix. You are 70 trillion cells, all humming in relative harmony; fascia is the 3-D spider web that binds everything together and holds it in its proper placement.'' Applied Tensgrity is a combination of massage therapy techniques targeting fascia at different layers in the body. Tensegrity is a continuous pull balanced by a discontinuous push. When these two forces are in balance a stabilized system results that is maximally strong. Applied Tensegrity works on the tension and integrity of the fascial system. When treating the human body as a tensegrity design, there are no isolated parts, the entire system responds as a whole.
Applied Tensegrity is a tool to provide gentle, yet deep, effective work to regain and maintain ease and fluidity in the body while deepening the relaxation response, decreasing pain, and restoring a sense of general well-being. Applied Tensegrity effects every system in the body. One of its profound effects is on the lymphatic system. This approach is incredible for healing inflammation and swelling in the body.
Applied Tensegrity is not your typical deep tissue massage and involves a subtle touch. Applied Tensegrity principles can be integrated with common massage techniques to provide longer lasting results. A burning or stinging sensation may occur as sensory systems awaken over areas of dehydrated fascia. The effects of Applied Tensegrity continue to process in the body for 48-72 hours following treatment, as the body works to bring about homeostasis and heal itself. The effects of Applied Tensegrity will often be felt in the days that follow the treatment and not necessarily directly after. Although, a feeling of lightness, increased mobility, relaxation and decreased swelling are often immediately detectable.
Applied Tensegrity is integrated and used by most of our Registered Massage Therapists. This technique is truly transformational. We LOVE fascia! Please ask us anything and everything about fascia and the body. For a full Applied Tensegrity treatment, please book in with Nicole Sing, Barb Lambert or Jessica Knox.
